Drum School building
"Com gitchya Kriol Kultcha heeya"

An enchanted place where hammocks sail through the sunset and fires dance through the night to the sambai drum rhythms unique to this small creole village in Belize, Central America...

Nestled in Gale's Point Manatee lives a group of artists and farmers dedicated to keeping their culture and customs alive. Gale's Point Manatee Come and learn from them how to make drums and play drum rhythms, like Djole, Kuku, Kakilambe, Soli and various other african rhythms...

The village was originally founded by maroons (runaway slaves) in the 1700s. Its unique history and subsequent seclusion has resulted in a rich and fascinating culture with strong African roots. The Drum School promotes this cultural heritage by teaching the village youth and by sharing the Creole culture with people all over the world.
